The incident is adding to a growing list of questions surrounding driverless vehicles in Florida and across the country.

Just days ago in Atlanta, residents reported dozens of Waymo vehicles flooding a local cul-de-sac.

Waymo told NBC News it had worked with its partner to address the routing behavior, but this comes after the company’s voluntary recall of nearly 4,000 robotaxis after some vehicles drove into flooded streets in Texas and California and stalled.

Despite the recent headlines, Waymo said it’s continuing to expand across South Florida and is now adding another 50 square miles of coverage, bringing its total service area to 150 square miles.

Riders can book Waymos across Miami Beach, Bal Harbour and now to north Miami Beach, Biscayne Park, Miami Shores, Little River and Miami Gardens.

Waymo said it will also begin to expand to the Hard Rock Stadium and near the Aventura Mall.

NBC6 has reached out to Waymo about the specific incident at the community and is waiting to hear back
