Gillum, 46, was charged with possession of dangerous drugs, drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana, Baldwin County Jail records showed.
NBC6 has reached out to the Daphne Police Department, which is listed in the jail records as the arresting agency, for information on Gillum’s arrest.
Gillum is a former Tallahassee mayor who sought to become the first Black governor in Florida history when he ran in 2018. He lost to Republican Ron DeSantis by less than 34,000 votes, which triggered an automatic recount.
Following his loss, he faced a string of controversies.
In 2020, he was named in a report detailing an alleged overdose incident inside a Miami Beach hotel room, where alleged bags of crystal meth were found.

According to the report, the incident happened inside the hotel located off West Avenue after police were called to respond to a cardiac arrest. Police said three men, including Gillum, were inside the hotel room at the time.
After the incident, Gillum announced he was entering rehab.
Two years after the Miami Beach incident, in 2022, Gillum was charged with wire fraud, conspiracy and making false statements.
Gillum was acquitted of lying to the FBI in the corruption case that also involved illegal use of campaign contributions, but a federal jury hung on charges that Gillum funneled tens of thousands of dollars in campaign money to personal accounts.
Prosecutors then sought to dismiss the remaining corruption charges against Gillum.
