The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office will hold a press conference on Monday to discuss recent street takeovers.

The press conference will be held at 10:30 a.m.
Over the weekend, two illegal street takeovers left several people injured, including a Miami-Dade deputy.
On Sunday, there was a street takeover in Gladeview that happened at the intersection of Northwest 25th Street and 76th Avenue.
Deputies said three people at the intersection suffered injuries and were taken to the hospital.

A driver in that takeover still remains on the loose.
Hours before the incident, there was another street takeover in Northwest Miami-Dade that left a Miami-Dade deputy injured after a suspect launched a firework at them, and it exploded.
The deputy suffered minor burns on their hand.
Two suspects in that takeover fled the area in unknown vehicles and remain on the loose.
In 2024, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a law that increased the penalties for drag racing, street takeovers, stunt driving and other dangerous activities and formally defined the term “coordinated street takeover.”
