One person was taken into custody after police said they abandoned a stolen car and it rolled into a canal in Sunrise.

Authorities said the vehicle burglary happened in the area of 2900 Northwest 60th Avenue on Tuesday morning.
Officers set up a perimeter and believed the suspect was “within the secured area.”
At some point, the suspect “abandoned the vehicle, which rolled into a nearby canal.”

No people went into the water, police said, and the vehicle was unoccupied when it was found. Video shows a white Honda sedan being pulled from the water. Its back window is decorated with text that reads “5th Grade Graduate 2026.”
The suspect was taken into custody.
Information about their identity or what potential charges they could face was not immediately available.
