A child was taken to the hospital after they were found in a pool in Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday, police said.

According to Fort Lauderdale Police, officers received a call about a child drowning in a pool in the 900 block of Southwest 27th Avenue.
Once officers arrived, the child, who is between 8 and 12 years old, was conscious, breathing and was being treated by a lifeguard.
Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue said staff at Riverland Park performed CPR on the child, and he spat out water and was breathing by the time officers arrived.
On his way to the Broward Health Medical Center, the boy was alert and talking, fire rescue said.

In the last few days, there have been several incidents of near-drownings and drownings in South Florida.
Over the weekend, a 4-year-old was taken to the hospital after they fell into a pool in Sunrise, police said.
There was also a drowning in Southwest Miami-Dade after a 14-year-old boy was swimming in a lake. A few hours after that incident, another 14-year-old was taken to the hospital in critical condition after nearly drowning.
