Election officials are conducting a key test of voting equipment and auditing systems on Wednesday, three weeks ahead of Florida’s primary elections.

The Logic and Accuracy test is designed to make sure every ballot is counted correctly, so the election process remains secure and transparent.
During the test, which the public, candidates, media and political party representatives were welcome to attend, elections personnel casted test ballots “using a predetermined set of results, allowing staff to verify that the equipment correctly captures and reports each vote.”

They then review the results to confirm they match the expected outcomes.
“Transparency is critical to maintaining public confidence in our elections,” Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections Alina Garcia said in a news release. “Logic and Accuracy testing gives the public an opportunity to see firsthand the careful steps we take to ensure our equipment is working properly, our results are accurate, and the integrity of our elections remains our highest priority.”
Early voting begins Aug. 3 in Miami-Dade and Aug. 8 in Broward, and will end Aug. 16 in both counties, two days before Election Day.
