A Georgia man is behind bars after being accused in a boating crash near the Haulover Sandbar over the weekend that seriously injured three people.

Daniel Lawson, 42, is facing several charges, including reckless boating.
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the crash happened on Saturday at around 1 a.m. near the Haulover sandbar.
Investigators said Lawson was operating a 39-foot Donzi with multiple passengers on board when it collided with a 20-foot Angler that was carrying three people.
“One juvenile and two adult females were seriously injured as a result and transported to an area hospital for treatment,” an official said.
A nearby resident captured the immediate aftermath.
The video shows a helicopter overhead and what appears to be a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue boat alongside one of the damaged vessels.

“Last night, I looked out, and I see a helicopter circling very low, that usually doesn’t happen late at night, and then I look out, and I see the fire rescue boat with a boat in front of it, and it turns out that the boat in front of it was half in the water,” Joseph Levy said.
NBC6 cameras captured one of the damaged boats after it was brought ashore in Bay Harbor Islands before investigators towed it to the FWC’s office to continue examining the damage.
“Most of the time, what I see is boats beached because low tide happens and they can’t move out,” Levy said. “But you hardly ever see collisions.”
Lawson is expected to make his first appearance before a judge on Monday afternoon.
