According to an arrest report, Gonzalez’s stepfather “fell asleep while sitting on the dining room table” and shortly after, the suspect “produced multiple sharp objects, struck the victim multiple times and fatally wounded him.”

The sheriff’s office said surveillance video captured Gonzalez adjusting the angle of the cameras inside the home. When they searched the residence, investigators reportedly found a knife, a sword and an axe, all stained with blood.

Gonzalez faces a first-degree murder charge and was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
