Under a recent Florida law, a “super speeder” is someone driving 100 mph or faster, or 50 mph or more over the posted speed limit.
Anyone convicted of violating the law faces fines, imprisonment, or both.
Martin County Sheriff’s Office officials said they’ve had three “super speeders” stopped and arrested just this month.
One woman from Fort Myers was driving 115 mph in a 40 mph zone, while another woman from Lake Worth was clocked at 114 mph in a 60 mph zone, the sheriff’s office said.

Another woman from Port St. Lucie was clocked by the Florida Highway Patrol going 140 mph in a 70 mph zone on Interstate 95 while on a motorcycle, the sheriff’s office said.
And Port St. Lucie Police arrested a man who they said was going 110 mph in a 45 mph zone while on a motorcycle.
“To make you think twice…at 110 MPH, a vehicle travels more than 160 feet every second. A split-second decision, a vehicle changing lanes, or an unexpected obstacle can quickly turn into a tragedy,” the department said in a Facebook post that included video of the arrest. “Excessive speed doesn’t just endanger the driver—it puts every person sharing the roadway at risk.”
