Jamarcus Malcolm Brooks, 27, of West Park, is facing charges including home invasion robbery with a firearm and possession of cocaine with intent to sell, Miami-Dade jail records showed.

According to an arrest report, the victim, who is paralyzed from the waist down and uses a motorized scooter, was in the North Miami home when the incident happened around 3:30 a.m. Thursday.

As a second person was leaving the home, Brooks rushed toward the open door armed with a handgun and demanded the victim give him money and marijuana and threatened to shoot him and the other person, the report said.

The other person fled on foot and called police from nearby.

Brooks pushed the victim out of his scooter, tied his hands behind his back with a USB charging cable, and dragged him into a bedroom, the report said.

He ransacked the room and took a bank bag containing $2,000 before fleeing, the report said.

Officers responded and found a gray Kia nearby that was unlocked with the keys inside and when the owner of the car arrived he told police he lent the car to Brooks, who claimed he needed it for an emergency, the report said.

The owner said Brooks called him around 4 a.m. and told him he left the car behind, the report said.

When the car was searched, officers found a satchel containing drugs and a wallet with multiple credit cards and a Social Security card belonging to Brooks, the report said.

Brooks, who is already on probation, was arrested at his probation office in Miami Gardens, the report said.

He was booked into jail and appeared before a judge on Friday who ordered him held without bond.
