Fire officials say the flames are not threatening homes or businesses.
This fire comes as three other blazes—the Quarry, Well and Corrections fires—in Miami-Dade have been burning for several days and remain active.
According to the Florida Forest Service, all of those fires are at least 90% contained.
Light winds, minimal rain in today’s forecast
“The winds are light out of the east, blowing the smoke to the west today,” NBC6 meteorologist Adam Berg said. “Not a strong wind, which is again, helpful for folks fighting this brush fire. What we really need is some rainfall.”

But that doesn’t seem likely on Monday.
By the middle of the week, Berg forecasts a better chance for rain.
Much drier today with only a few showers possible over SW areas. Dangerous temperatures again this afternoon with highs hitting mid-upper 90s in many locations of SoFlo, along with max heat index values possibly reaching the 105-110 degrees range at times. pic.twitter.com/1Usykfkv1z

Meanwhile, dry conditions and dangerously hot temperatures continue, according to the National Weather Service.
Dry vegetation can easily catch fire from a lightning strike or other source, making it easier for flames to spread.
