Brian Laoz, 22, was booked into Broward’s Main Jail on Wednesday on two counts of armed sexual battery, and one count each of armed kidnapping, aggravated assault with a firearm, attempted armed robbery and false imprisonment, records showed.

Court records show the alleged kidnapping and sexual battery incident happened Feb. 27, 2024, and was investigated by Fort Lauderdale Police.

Further details weren’t available.

Laoz was arrested this past February on attempted murder and other charges in the double shooting that happened in the area of Southwest 266th Street and 138th Avenue.

According to an arrest report, one of the people who was shot stated that they were in the area to buy drugs when they were ambushed by a person on foot who shot at their car.

The two people who were shot were hospitalized, and Laoz was arrested a few days after the Feb. 17 shooting.

Laoz claimed the shooting was in self-defense and that earlier in the day, one of the victims threatened his life, but surveillance video “appears to conflict with the defendants statement or notion of self-defense,” the arrest report said.

Laoz appeared before a Broward judge on Thursday and remains behind bars without bond.
