Winning the 2026 U.S. Open championship will come with a huge payday.

This week’s major tournament at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York, features an increased purse and first-place prize compared to the 2025 U.S. Open. The third of golf’s four annual majors will award $22.5 million in prize money, with $4.5 million earmarked for the champion.

Reigning U.S. Open winner J.J. Spaun took home $4.3 million with his victory at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania last year. The 2025 U.S. Open had a purse of $21.5 million.
