The 2026 U.S. Open will be held from Thursday, June 18, to Sunday, June 21.

Where is the 2026 U.S. Open?

The U.S. Open will be played at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York. It is the course’s sixth time hosting the tournament and first time since 2018.

How to watch the 2026 U.S. Open

The 2026 U.S. Open will air live on NBC, USA Network and Peacock.

Round 1: Thursday, June 18

  • USA Network: 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET
  • Peacock: 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. ET

Round 2: Friday, June 19

  • Peacock: 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET
  • NBC: 1:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. ET

Round 3: Saturday, June 20

  • USA Network: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET

How many players will there be at the 2026 U.S. Open?

There are 149 players who are exempt or have qualified for the 2026 U.S. Open.

Who won the 2025 U.S. Open?

J.J. Spaun is the reigning U.S. Open champion after clinching the 2025 title with a 64-foot birdie putt on the final hole at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania. Robert MacIntyre finished second and Viktor Hovland placed third.

2026 U.S. Open contenders

Scottie Scheffler is chasing the career grand slam, and the final round of the 2026 U.S. Open comes on his 30th birthday. His best finish in the major came in 2022, when he tied for second behind Matt Fitzpatrick at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts. Scheffler leads the PGA standings entering the third major of 2026.

Back-to-back Masters champion Rory McIlroy is second in the PGA standings and seeking his first U.S. Open championship since 2011, when he won his first career major title.

Aaron Rai is also a name to watch after he earned a stunning PGA Championship victory.

Spaun, Bryson DeChambeau (2024), Wyndham Clark (2023), Matt Fitzpatrick (2022), Jon Rahm (2021), Gary Woodland (2019), Brooks Koepka (2017 and 2018) and Dustin Johnson (2016) have all won the U.S. Open over the last decade.

Rory McIlroy won the 2026 Master tournament, becoming the first player to win back-to-back Masters since Tiger Woods in 2001-2002.
