A child was taken to the hospital on Sunday after nearly drowning in North Lauderdale, deputies said.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, before 10 a.m., deputies received reports of a possible toddler who drowned in a pool in the 6600 block of Pebble Beach.

Deputies and North Lauderdale Fire Rescue arrived at the scene and took the child to the hospital for treatment.

The child’s condition was not released.

An investigation into the incident is underway.

Recently, there have been several drowning and near-drowning incidents throughout South Florida.

On Thursday, a 2-year-old boy died after he was found in a lake in Plantation, police said.

Last month, a 14-year-old boy drowned while swimming in a lake near North Redland Road and Northwest 12th Street.

Marcus Sanders’ family is now suing three corporations, alleging the property owners failed to properly secure and maintain the area where the tragedy happened.

Following these incidents, doctors and others are sounding the alarm and want more families to be prepared.
