Brittany Ramirez, who had just turned 2 in May, died Sunday after Hallandale Beach police say she was left inside a sweltering vehicle for approximately three hours.

Her mother, Cristina Lopez, said she had left Brittany in the care of a babysitter. According to Lopez, the child was later left with the babysitter’s father, who she says forgot the little girl inside the car.

Hallandale Beach Police are calling the incident an accident. As of Thursday, no arrests have been made, and no charges have been filed.

Now, Lopez is demanding justice. She blames the babysitter for what happened and says she wants someone held accountable for her daughter’s death.

The family has created a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral expenses and transport Brittany’s body to Guatemala.
