According to the doctor, Barry Charles isn’t getting any better, his niece Shell Stanley told NBC6 on Monday.
“He might not even make it 24 hours,” Stanley said. “They left him on the street like a dog, and I think that’s not right.”
Charles was walking in Deerfield Beach on Friday night when someone hit him with their car and didn’t stop. Detectives are now searching for the driver.
Stanley said her uncle isn’t breathing on his own and has brain damage. He’s already undergone a couple of surgeries.

“I’m very angry, upset because you could have stopped,” Stanley said.
Stanley said her uncle is loving and likes to have fun. He just came down from Georgia to visit her.
“I’m very hurt because he was someone like a father to me,” Stanley said.
Her uncle is now fighting to stay alive. She has a message for the person who investigators say hit him.
“If you’re watching this and you did this or if someone knows something, please let us know,” Stanley said. “We need to know who did this.”
BSO Traffic Homicide Unit detectives responded and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this crash.
