“To everyone who has reached out, checked in, and kept Perez and our family in your thoughts, THANK YOU!” the statement on PerezHilton.com said. “At this time, Perez remains hospitalized and is receiving the medical care he needs. His treatment is continuing in an inpatient setting under the care of a dedicated team of medical and mental health professionals.”
The incident happened Aug. 4 at the 48-year-old’s Westchester home. Deputies responded to the residence after Hilton’s sister reported that she found him naked, bloody and cutting himself with a box cutter.
Hilton was livestreaming on TikTok during the incident. NBC News reported he was covered in blood, with visible cuts, and holding what appeared to be a knife. The video was later pulled from the platform.
He was hospitalized and taken for a mental health evaluation, also known as a Baker Act.

Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, had been suicidal the previous week and had been taken to a hospital for help, his sister told deputies.
“Perez built PerezHilton.com more than 20 years ago, and it has remained one of the most important parts of his life ever since. Starting this week, his team will begin publishing again, focusing on the day’s biggest stories,” Monday’s statement read. “Whether you have followed Perez from the beginning or only recently started reading, we hope you will continue visiting, reading, and sharing the site. We deeply appreciate your support while Perez focuses on his health and recovery.”
The statement added that Hilton’s health “remains the priority” as his team keeps his website active.
