The incident began Monday night when a pizza delivery man was robbed in Lake Worth, Palm Beach Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said.
The delivery man was able to get a description and tag for the vehicle, and license plate readers found the vehicle on Tuesday.
Authorities tried to stop the vehicle but the driver fled and a pursuit ensued down Interstate 95 as the Florida Highway Patrol joined in the effort, Bradshaw said.
At one point, the driver’s tires blew and he crashed into a fence then got out with something in his hand that looked like a gun, Bradshaw said.

Authorities tried to use less-than-lethal weapons on the suspect multiple times but they had no effect, Bradshaw said.
When the suspect raised his hands in what Bradshaw said was a shooting position, a deputy opened fire, killing him.
Bradshaw said the suspect had yelled “you’re gonna have to kill me” multiple times at authorities, but the sheriff confirmed he didn’t have a gun.
The 54-year-old suspect, whose name wasn’t released, was a convicted felon whose criminal history included carjacking, robbery, kidnapping, assault, hit-and-run, trespassing, and cocaine sales, Bradshaw said.
