A man has died after his body was “severed” in a work-related incident in the Florida Keys, authorities said.

The incident happened Tuesday morning at 4250 Overseas Highway in Marathon, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office officials said.
Officials said 37-year-old Victor Vivian Cano Franco was working at the location, where rocks are crushed into smaller pieces, when he was apparently struck by a front-end loader.

He was struck in his mid-section and “his body was severed as a result,” the sheriff’s office said.
Cano Franco, of Marathon, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives are investigating and autopsy results are pending but foul play is not believed to be a factor, officials said.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified of the incident.
