According to ICE, the allegation is that the man impersonated a federal official, but it does not mean he was arrested because he is in the country illegally.

Jonathan Gonzalez Reyes faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault and impersonating an officer.

His arrest on Sunday comes days after Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested him on state charges.

Those allegations date back to July.

Surveillance video obtained by NBC6 shows Gonzalez-Reyes arriving at a Miami Gardens business, with what appears to be flashing blue police lights.

Investigators said he was also wearing a badge and carrying a gun.

According to an arrest report, Gonzalez-Reyes claimed he held a top position with ICE and could help the victim with immigration issues.

The victim told investigators that Gonzalez-Reyes later threatened his son, including threatening to pistol-whip him and plant drugs inside the business.

Investigators also said Gonzalez-Reyes then pointed a gun toward the victim.

Gonzalez-Reyes was arrested on Wednesday, and a judge found probable cause on the state charges.

He bonded out of jail on Thursday.

But according to ICE, the agency then contacted the U.S. Attorney’s Office and obtained a federal warrant, and Gonzalez-Reyes was arrested.

The agency said its Office of Professional Responsibility investigates allegations of professional misconduct involving federal officials and related law enforcement personnel.

Gonzalez-Reyes’ immigration status was not provided to NBC6.

He has been assigned a public defender, and NBC6 has reached out to the public defender about the allegations.
