New York City’s and the nation’s commanders-in-chief are scheduled to talk around 4 p.m. on the Upper East Side. Mamdani has scheduled a press conference following his meeting with the president.
White House officials confirmed the meeting.
The specifics of the meeting were not clear, but a spokesperson for the mayor said it would “focus on issues affecting New York City and New Yorkers.”
Mamdani and Trump have met face-to-face twice before, both times at the White House. The first summit happened in November 2025, after Mamdani won the election but before he officially took office. The second came this past February.

The two leaders have struck an almost warm public relationship, a rare dynamic not seen between Trump and many of the country’s other prominent Democrats. But neither has shied away from publicly criticizing the other.
Gov. Kathy Hochul, meanwhile, the highest-ranking elected official in New York, was asked Monday how she felt about not being included in the meeting.
Trump’s trip coincides with the United Nations General Assembly, which brings dignitaries from around the world to midtown Manhattan for several weeks. A gridlock alert is now in effect.
