Rashad Corouthers is facing several charges, including robbery/home invasion with a firearm and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to Hallandale Beach Police, on Sunday, Corouthers went inside a home in the 1000 block of Southwest Third Avenue after he removed a piece of plywood that was covering a broken window.

Police said that Corouthers was captured on surveillance video going inside the home and putting items inside a bag.

During the robbery, two children, 10 and 12, arrived at the home and saw Corouthers, police said. Corouthers then pulled out a gun, pointed it at the children and told them to leave.

Surveillance video showed the children running out of the home toward their parents, who were at the carport.

Corouthers was then seen fleeing from the home.

Days after the incident, Corouthers was found and arrested.

Records show Corouthers was convicted on four felony charges, including burglary of a home.

“No family should ever have to go through what these two children experienced in their own home,” said HBPD Chief Michel Michel, in a statement. “Our hearts go out to them and their parents. We are especially grateful they were able to get out of that residence safely, and I am proud of the detectives and officers who worked around the clock to bring this suspect into custody.”
