Ranjith Ramasamy, 45, was arrested on three counts of sexual battery, Miami-Dade jail records showed.
Ramasamy had been living in Dubai but had agreed to come to South Florida to surrender following an investigation by Miami Police, court records showed.
According to an arrest warrant, Ramasamy is a urologist and expert in sexual medicine, male infertility and reproductive medicine and surgery.
He had been employed at the University of Miami as director of Male Reproductive Medicine and Surgery, assistant professor of urology and then associate professor of urology, but since 2024, he’s been a consultant urologist at the Jumeirah American Clinic in Dubai, the warrant said.
The warrant said multiple former male students, fellows and trainees came forward accusing Ramasamy of using his position to sexually batter them.
One victim said he had been working post-graduate under Ramasamy as his chief of staff in 2020 when Ramasamy suggested he undergo a semen analysis and weekly “scrotal ultrasounds,” the warrant said.
He later recommended a prostate exam, but a medical expert determined the exam was improper and didn’t serve a medical purpose, the warrant said.
“The expert further opined that the Subject subjected victim to physically painful testicular and penis ‘exams’ and used a false diagnosis to justify a rectal exam,” the warrant said.

A second victim said he was a medical student research fellow for Ramasamy in 2022 when Ramasamy requested a semen sample from his male students for a project he was working on, the warrant said.
He said Ramasamy later called him and recommended further evaluation including a rectal prostate examination, but said it was a “much longer and aggressive exam than he had seen the Subject perform on patients,” the warrant said.
From Oct. 2022 to March 2023, the second victim said Ramasamy performed “rectal and prostatic massages” on the victim, saying they were for physical therapy, the warrant said.
But an expert determined the procedures were “performed in a manner inconsistent with the standard of care, alone and after normal business hours, and fall far outside the acceptable bounds of any medical practice,” the warrant said.
A third victim said he was a student of Ramasamy in May of 2016 when Ramasamy asked him for a semen sample to create a database for a cryopreservation lab.
He said Ramasamy later recommended undergoing more testing and even surgery, and later started performing prostate massages on him, the warrant said.
An expert later determined Ramasamy performed the surgery “based upon undocumented semen analysis results” and found there was no clinical reason for the rectal examinations, the warrant said.
Ramasamy appeared before a judge on Thursday who set his bond at $120,000 with an ankle monitor.
