The driver of a tanker truck was killed in a fiery crash that shut down Florida’s Turnpike in both directions in Miami-Dade, authorities said.

Florida Highway Patrol said they were responding to a vehicle crash with injuries in the southbound lanes at mile marker 23 for Bird Road before 10:30 a.m.

“The truck lost control, overturned, and collided into the center median concrete barrier wall,” FHP said.

The driver died at the scene. Their name was not immediately released.
