Don Roberts, 20, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

According to Daytona Police, on Oct. 11, Ross’ son, William Roberts III, was standing on the sidewalk near Bethune-Cookman University with a female.

An arrest report said as Roberts III was talking to her, a vehicle pulled up to them and Roberts got out of the vehicle and started yelling, “that’s what we doin.”

Roberts III, the report said, believes Roberts was referring to the female he was talking to because she and the suspect had a past romantic relationship.

At some point, the suspect came up to Roberts III with a gun in hand, pointed it at him and said, “I don’t care who your daddy is, I’ll kill you right here,” the report said.

The suspect, the report said, then raised his gun and hit Roberts III in the right side of the head. After hitting him, Roberts III got into his car and went home.

When police asked Roberts III why he waited to call them, he said he was in fear, the report said.

During the investigation, Roberts III gave officers the suspect’s name and possible birthday, and was able to identify him from a photo lineup, the report said.
