According to police, 33-year-old Jean Adoux left his niece inside his vehicle with the windows rolled up outside a restaurant along West Hillsboro Boulevard. The temperature outside was 85 degrees.

A witness who drove up to the shopping center saw the child inside the car, crying and banging on the windows, police said.

The witness called 911, and when fire rescue teams arrived, the engine was off and the windows were rolled all the way up, police said.

Adoux then came out of the restaurant, walked to the car and took the young girl back into the restaurant, police said.
