Florida Highway Patrol officials said they were notified shortly before 3:45 p.m. Wednesday of a stolen Cadillac in the area of Northwest 18th Avenue and Northwest 152nd Street.

Troopers intercepted the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop but the driver, later identified as 26-year-old Klauss Anthony Moise, fled, officials said.

Eventually, the SUV sped up and a trooper performed a PIT maneuver to stop it before Moise got out and tried to flee on foot, video shows. He was eventually tackled and caught.

An arrest report said police found multiple open alcohol containers inside the vehicle. Moise allegedly had red, glossy eyes, slurred speech, was unable to maintain balance and smelled like alcohol.

Moise has been in trouble with the law before. In 2021, he was charged with battery by a detainee after he and four others beat up accused child killer Jorge Barahona at the Miami-Dade County jail.

Moise was also arrested and accused of accessory after the fact when police said he helped dispose of the body of Amanda Collins, who was killed in Opa-locka in 2022. An arrest report states that Moise told police that after Collins was killed, he helped place a plastic bag on her body, wrapped her in a white bed sheet and helped put the body in the trunk of a vehicle. He and the other suspects then drove to a canal, where the others dumped the body, the report states.

At a bond court hearing on Thursday, prosecutors said Moise is currently on probation for that 2022 case and asked the judge for a higher bond.

“I am asking for purposes of the new cases that an elevated bond be given,” a prosecutor said. “I think given the defendant’s history, especially in the last couple of years, he’s had consistent contact with the criminal justice system and has completely disregarded the law at this point.”

Judge Mindy Glazer set his bond at $18,500 but he’s being held until his next appearance before a division judge.
