Manuel Farfan-Cabello, 28, was charged with first-degree murder.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, on Oct. 9, deputies arrived at a home in Tamarac after receiving reports of a homicide.

An arrest report said that Farfan-Cabello himself called 911 and told authorities that he killed his mother.

Farfan-Cabello told a dispatcher that “God told me to kill my mom,” and admitted to stabbing her with a knife three to four hours before he called 911, the report said.

During his call with the dispatcher, he was asked where his mother was, and he said she was inside their living room, the report said. Farfan-Cabello also told the dispatcher that he threw the knife into a lake and that he was high when the incident happened.

When deputies arrived at the home, they ordered Farfan-Cabello to leave, and he was arrested, the report said. Deputies went to check on Farfan-Cabello’s mother, and she was “stiff and cold to the touch.”

Inside the home, deputies saw a substantial amount of blood in the living room and the kitchen.

Farfan-Cabello’s mother was then pronounced dead.

She was identified as 57-year-old Ylda Cabello-Ynocente.

During the investigation, deputies learned that Farfan-Cabello went to a neighbor’s home and rang their doorbell camera, the report said. When deputies arrived at that home, they noticed what appeared to be a trail of blood that went back to Farfan-Cabello’s mother’s house, the report said.

Deputies, the report said, then talked with Cabello-Ynocente’s ex-husband, who said he got a call from a friend of Cabello-Ynocente’s sister-in-law back in Peru who said something horrible had happened.

Farfan-Cabello contacted his relatives in Peru and sent them a photo of his mother while telling them she was dead, the report said.

Detectives were able to contact Farfan-Cabello’s aunt, who told them he sent a message to the family’s group chat with his mother’s phone and wrote “She is dead,” in Spanish, and “Please forgive me, but God told me to do it,” the report said.

She said that he has been previously diagnosed with psychosis and schizophrenia, and family members thought he was hallucinating when he messaged them, the report said. They asked him to send a picture to confirm what he said, and he sent them a picture of what appeared to be a lot of blood around his mother’s body.

Neighbors say concerns about the suspect’s behavior were well known.

Authorities had not independently verified Farfan-Cabello’s reported mental health history through medical documentation, the report said.

A family member told detectives that during a conversation with Farfan-Cabello, he told them, “I killed my mom. Yes. I was tired of her. She was bothering me too much, and I am here with God,” the report said.

Following the incident, the report said, a preliminary examination of Cabello-Ynocente showed that she had about 30 stab wounds on her head, neck and the other areas of her body.

After Farfan-Cabello was arrested, a judge denied him bond.

Cabello-Ynocente’s family said Farfan-Cabello isn’t a bad person and hopes that he gets the help he needs.
