Fael Francois, 66, was charged with attempted murder with a gun, aggravated assault and domestic battery.

According to authorities, on May 15, Francois’ wife was sleeping, and he grabbed a pillow and put it over her face, making it hard to breathe.

An arrest report said that his wife was able to bring free, but Francois grabbed her arms, started to shake her and slapped her face several times.

When his wife broke free again, she called her sister to tell her what happened, but Francois overheard her, grabbed his gun, pointed it at her head and said “Today you’re going to die,” the report said.

Francois, the report said, pulled the trigger, but didn’t have a magazine inserted in the gun, and a round wasn’t fired. He then put the gun on a table, picked up a black object, and struck his wife’s arm.

The victim told detectives that when Francois went to rearm himself, she left the home, hid in a shed in the backyard and called 911, the report said.

When deputies arrived at the home, they were able to find Francois, and he was arrested.

His wife was checked out by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and was cleared.

Francois denied the allegation against him, and he was taken to the Turner Guilford Correctional Center.
