Dozens of people marched in Pompano Beach Thursday, more than a week after police say someone shot and killed two 21-year-old cousins in a drive-by shooting in Miramar.

The community rallied with the family, as they chanted ‘justice for Bri and AJ’ and called for justice and healing.
Although this was a tragedy in Miramar, the Pompano Beach commissioner who organized the ‘Healing Our Community March’ event, Commissioner Beverly Perkins, says this is what the family wanted to do: to raise awareness and demand justice so no other family has to experience what they experienced.
Police say the driver of a white sedan pulled up next to a Lamborghini on July 5 and someone started shooting at the SUV. Detectives say three people inside the SUV were hit, including 21-year-old Brianna Johnson and her cousin, 21-year-old Arthur Lee Johnson. They did not survive. The third person shot in the SUV is home recovering.
“In the beginning it was tough, it was hard, I was very hurt, I’m still hurt, it’s a lot to deal with, I take it one day at a time,” Brianna’s mom Hope Jones said.

Brianna’s mom, Hope Jones, says her daughter was bubbly, loving, caring, and smart. She says Brianna went to Bethune-Cookman and enrolled at FAU. NBC6 learned Johnson was a social media influencer, with hundreds of thousands of followers.
“She was everything to me,” Jones said. “I thought I had more time with her.”
AJ’s father told NBC6 his son was an entrepreneur.
Commissioner Perkins also held a gun violence symposium after the march and a candlelight vigil.
Last week, authorities released the 911 calls that captured the panic after a triple shooting in Miramar killed an influencer and her cousin, and left another person injured.
