To commemorate the U.S. 250th anniversary, Bayfront Park is hosting a huge celebration Saturday that will feature both themes of the Fourth of July and the World Cup.

What you need to know about Bayfront’s Fourth of July Celebration

The event starts at 1 p.m. and includes live performances from artists such as Ja Rule and The Fray. Attendees also get a chance to watch World Cup games at the designated Fan Zone. Canada is set to play against Morocco at 1 p.m., and then Paraguay will face France at 5 p.m.

The free event will also feature food, cocktails and family-friendly activities. The night will conclude with a drone show and then a fireworks display that will overlook Biscayne Bay at midnight.

Though the event comes at no cost, people do have to RSVP in order to attend.

Starting Thursday, detours and closures will disrupt traffic patterns within South Florida, including access to the Port of Miami. Here is what you need to know.

Street closures and detours

Traffic on northbound on Biscayne Boulevard will be redirected into two southbound lanes starting at Southeast 1st Street and continuing to Northeast 4th Street. Then vehicles will move back to northbound lanes.

Southbound on Biscayne Boulevard will also experience some detours. It will be reduced to two lanes beginning at Northeast 6th Street and continuing south.

These detours and closures will end Monday at around 6 a.m.

Port of Miami access

Though access will remain open on Northeast 5th Street, drivers are encouraged to use the Port of Miami Tunnel to avoid traffic congestion.

Miami Police encourage people to take alternate routes if they are traveling in the surrounding area.

Law enforcement will be stationed throughout the Bayfront Park Fourth of July event. They will be ready to assist people and manage traffic flow.
