A suspect in a truck theft and attempted burglaries of multiple vehicles was arrested in Miramar, police said Wednesday.

Police said officers initially responded to the area of South University Drive and Riviera Boulevard after receiving a license plate reader alert for a Ford F-150 that had been stolen in Miami Gardens.
Officers began conducting surveillance and saw the suspect trying to burglarize multiple vehicles at homes in residential neighborhoods including along Granada Boulevard, police said.
Investigators tracked the suspect with the help of a Broward Sheriff’s Office aviation unit until someone in a sedan picked him up, police said.

The suspect was detained during a traffic stop and officers recovered burglary tools, a weapon and the keys to the F-150, linking him to the theft, police said.
He was also linked to 19 vehicle burglary attempts and other incidents, police said.
Police haven’t released the suspect’s identity or said what charges he faces, but said an investigation was ongoing as detectives work to identity additional victims.
