Video shows hail falling in Miami Gardens on Wednesday as officials issued weather alerts ahead of afternoon storms.

The video sent to NBC6 from a viewer shows hail the size of small pebbles falling in her backyard.

The National Weather Service had issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northern Miami-Dade and southern Broward counties at 1:22 p.m. that lasted about 20 minutes. It warned of wind gusts up to 60 mph and possible quarter-sized hail.

Residents were advised to move to the interior room of the lowest floor of a building.

The NWS warned hail damage to vehicles is expected, along with wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

The east coast of South Florida is currently under a marginal risk (level 1 out of 5) for severe storms on Wednesday afternoon and evening.
