A former Florida Highway Patrol trooper is behind bars after being accused of using his old badge to try to get out of a speeding ticket.

According to an arrest report, 34-year-old Jose Rivero was riding his motorcycle when he was pulled over by an officer in Northwest Miami.
The reports said he told the officer he was one of them and showed him an FHP that was issued in 2014.

The officer gave him a warning, and Rivero left. But other officers at the scene later noted that Rivero had been fired from FHP.
Officers later caught up to himm and he was detained.
Rivero is now charged with falsely impersonating an officer and driving with a suspended license.
