According to the FWC, on Saturday, they were told by Miami Police that there was a missing person in Miami-Dade County.

During their investigation, FWC learned that on Friday, there was a group of eight passengers and one operator on board a chartered 39-foot vessel.

As the vessel was traveling from Hobie Beach toward the Miami River, a passenger noticed that 23-year-old Akin Liverpool was missing.

A search for Liverpool then started.

Two days after Liverpool was reported missing, his body was found by Miami Police in the water.

He was identified as Liverpool.

NBC6 spoke to his friends and family.

“Akin was a bundle of joy,” said Crystal King, Liverpool’s aunt. “He was the life of the party. He was just an all-around good person. Very respectful, very mannerable, someone you can rely on. He was a young man that was going places.”

Liverpool graduated from Florida Memorial University in 2024, a statement from the university said.

The statement reads in part:

“Akin’s passing is a heartbreaking reminder of how precious life truly is. Though his time with us was far too short, his memory will forever remain a part of the FMU family. As a fellow Lion, he leaves behind a legacy of determination, dreams, and the impact he made on those who had the privilege of knowing him.”
