Florida’s attorney general and multiple other law enforcement officials discussed their efforts to combat human trafficking at a news conference in Miami on Tuesday.

Attorney General James Uthmeier held the news conference at Florida International University along with Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida Jason Reding Quiñones and others.
Authorities discussed their efforts at combatting human trafficking across the state and in Miami, especially during the 2026 World Cup.

Uthmeier said despite progress, Florida needs to do better.
“Unfortunately, we are still ranked very high when it comes to top locations for human trafficking not just in the country, but in the world,” he said.
