A death investigation is underway on Sunday after a man drowned in Fort Lauderdale, police said.

According to Fort Lauderdale Police, they received a call at around 5:07 a.m., about a possible drowning in the 200 block of Southwest Second Avenue.
Officers spoke to several witnesses who said they saw a man entering the water.
Police and fire rescue then worked together, as well as the Broward Sheriff’s Office aviation unit, to search the area.

During their search, the man was found, and he was taken to the Broward Health Medical Center, where he died.

The man’s identity was not released.
