Ten jurors were selected, as well as four alternates. Opening statements are set to start Monday afternoon.
George Pino is accused of acting recklessly when his boat crashed into a channel marker in Biscayne Bay on Sept. 4, 2022, killing 17-year-old Lucy Fernandez and seriously injuring Katy Puig.
Also on Friday, the judge ruled the defense “willfully violated” a court order by turning over evidence late.

Prosecutors said they need more time to review the last-minute disclosure from a toxicologist before trial. The judge sided with prosecutors, but was adamant that the trial would start on time.
Pino is facing second-degree manslaughter and vessel homicide charges. He has pleaded not guilty and maintains his innocence, calling the crash an accident.
