The excitement is brewing for the start of the FIFA World Cup in Miami next week. The city will host seven games, and with more than 600,000 visitors expected, traffic could be a doozy.

This is why Miami-Dade County, the county’s Department of Transportation, and the FIFA Host Committee announced plans they hope ticket holders will take.
“Drive less and celebrate more!” Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said.
During match days, ticketholders will be able to access free coach bus shuttle services that will pick up guests at any of these mobility hubs:
- Golden Glades
- Dr. Martin Luther King Metro Station
- Aventura Brightline Station
- Seminole Hard Rock Casino
- Amerant Bank (Weekends only)
All you have to do is show your ticket, no pre-registration required, and board the shuttles that will be available four hours before the match starts. The shuttles will then take you directly to Miami Stadium, with enough time to check in and go through security.
On top of the free coach shuttle buses, the county is encouraging ticketholders to use public transportation like the county buses, Metrorail and Metromover.
For non-ticket holders looking to use public transportation during game days, there will be extra service for trains and regular buses, so residents are not impacted by the congestion, said Stacy Miller, the CEO and director of Transportation and Public Works.
Public transportation options will be extended until midnight, and on select days, the Metrorail and Metromover will go until 1 a.m., she said.

Officials say there will be limited parking at the stadium, so it’s important to take advantage of other transportation options. For those coming from outside of Miami-Dade, there are the Tri-Rail and Brightline.
“We have a lot of people who are actually staying in Orlando during the World Cup, enjoying the theme parks, then they will come down on the Brightline, get off at the Aventura Station, get a shuttle to the game, go back to the train and back to Orlando all in the same day,” Patrick Goddard, the CEO of Brightline Trains, said.
And for those in Miami, Uber is also offering shuttles. To take you to the games, Uber will have the shuttles pick up in Miami Beach and Brickell to take you directly to the stadium. After the game, the Uber shuttles will take you to those two stops and Downtown.
“Fans can expect to book their Uber shuttle a few days ahead of each match, and those will be priced at $45 per seat,” said Uber spokesperson Lizzie Pittinger.
For Uber riders, there will be two designated drop-off spots outside the stadium, where you will have to get on a different shuttle to go into the stadium.
If you aren’t going to the game, there is the FIFA Fan Fest, 23 days of free fan fun, where anyone can watch the games live at Bayfront Park. If you are planning to go there, public transportation is also the way to go.
