Dr. Leroy Wright, 46, is facing several charges, including aggravated sexual conduct with a student by an authority figure, sexual activity with a minor, and obscene material/depicting a minor.

According to authorities, on April 28, an email was sent to the school’s principal that accused Wright of having a relationship with a victim.

An arrest report said that on May 4, the principal submitted an investigative report to the Miami-Dade County Public Schools Office of Professional Standards, and three days later, the report was sent to the Miami-Dade Schools Police Department.

School police then identified the person who originally sent the principal the email, and he was interviewed by detectives at his home with his mother, the report said.

During the interview, the report said, the victim told detectives that he met Wright at the beginning of the school year, and Wright asked him to join the freshman club, which he was the adult sponsor.

When the victim joined the club, he said he didn’t have much contact with Wright, but on April 29, when he was leaving the classroom, he saw Wright and gave him a hug, the report said. Wright then hugged him back and kissed the victim, and started to touch his body.

The victim continued to tell detectives that on May 1, Wright asked him to come to his classroom, where they kissed, and Wright groped the victim, the report said.

Three days after that incident, the victim said he left the school with Wright and was getting a ride back to his home, and while they were stuck in traffic, Wright unzipped the victim’s pants and performed a sexual act, the report said.

Wright, the report said, was then interviewed by police on May 7, waived his rights and told detectives that he was the sponsor of the school’s freshmen club and would communicate with his students through text and WhatsApp.

The following day, Wright was arrested and taken to the Turner Guilford Night Correctional Center.

Wright on Monday did not attend his court appearance, which was rescheduled for Wednesday.
