The issue? The driver was missing her right hand.
The uncomfortable interaction between the woman, identified as Katie, and a deputy took place in February in Lake Worth Beach, Florida, and was captured on body camera video released by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
“You drove past me holding a phone with your right hand,” the deputy said, before the woman is seen raising her arm to reveal the missing limb.
“Obviously not,” she said, laughing. “So, you want to just call this a day?”
“I don’t want to call it a day. You had your hand up, manipulating your phone,” the deputy responded.
“You just said my right hand,” she added.
“Well, I thought I saw you with your right hand,” he said, before being cut off by Kathleen, who replied: “So you didn’t.”

Others pointed to the awkward exchange when the deputy told Katie, “Hand to God you didn’t have a phone in your hand,” prompting her to raise her right arm. The deputy then asked her to raise her “other hand.”
