Travis Kelce is a three-time Super Bowl champion, four-time All-Pro and fiance of music superstar Taylor Swift.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday he added minority investor in the Cleveland Guardians to his resum\u00e9.<\/p>\n

The Guardians announced before their game against the Washington Nationals that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end has purchased a minority share in the franchise.<\/p>\n

The Cleveland Heights native bought a small share of David Blitzer’s 35% stake. Blitzer can become the controlling owner after the 2027 season or he can wait to exercise that option later.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe opportunity came across my desk and I just couldn\u2019t say no,\u201d Kelce said on the \u201cNew Heights\u201d podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce. \u201cThese guys (Blitzer and majority owner Paul Dolan) gave me the opportunity to show my Cleveland love and plant my roots in Cleveland forever, no matter what. It\u2019s an awesome feeling knowing that a childhood kid that grew up on the east side is now part owner of his favorite baseball team.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kelce lettered in football, basketball and baseball at Cleveland Heights High School. He was a Cleveland Plain Dealer baseball player of the week after going 14 for 22 with two home runs and 12 RBIs during one stretch in May 2008, his senior year. He also played on a collegiate summer team in 2010 while attending the University of Cincinnati.<\/p>\n

Kelce was wearing a Guardians’ City Connect jersey during the podcast and recounted going to games growing up. The brothers said their favorite players during childhood were Albert Belle and Jim Thome.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s so many countless memories of the 1990s and then early 2000s where it\u2019s in me to always root for the Guards and always wanted to be a part of them from,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s a dream come true for a Cleveland kid. Any Cleveland kid would be through the roof right now, and I\u2019m happy to be the honorable one to get to do it for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kelce and Swift were in Cleveland\u00a0last weekend\u00a0and attended Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals between the Cavaliers and New York Knicks.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tTravis Kelce has a lot to look forward to during his wedding to Taylor Swift. The couple’s upcoming nuptials became a topic of conversation during the May 6 episode of Travis and brother Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

Kelce’s first act as part of the Guardians will be to throw a first pitch on June 14 against the Detroit Tigers. He tried to throw\u00a0the first pitch\u00a0during Cleveland’s 2023 home opener against Seattle but ended up throwing a ball that spiked near the plate and skipped to the backstop.<\/p>\n

Guardians manager Stephen Vogt was mostly thrilled to hear about Kelce joining the organization. Vogt is a die-hard San Francisco 49ers fan and hasn\u2019t forgiven Kelce for the Super Bowl wins over his favorite football team.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m still a little bit bitter because the Chiefs beat the Niners twice in the Super Bowl,\u201d Vogt said before the series finale against the Nationals. \u201cBut outside of that, it\u2019s pretty cool to have Kelce on board.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kelce becomes the second member of the Chiefs to have a stake in a baseball team. Patrick Mahomes has a share in the Kansas City Royals and tweeted a video of Kelce’s first pitch in congratulating him.<\/p>\n
