The Cuban government is warning that growing tensions with the United States could have serious consequences, as residents on the island grapple with worsening shortages and uncertainty.<\/p>\n

In Havana, some Cubans openly expressed frustration with the country\u2019s leadership \u2014 a level of criticism rarely heard publicly on the communist island.<\/p>\n

\u201cLogic tells us there has to be regime change,\u201d said Havana street vendor Yosvany Almaguer, who told NBC6 conditions in Cuba continue to deteriorate after decades under the same government.<\/p>\n

The comments come as the Trump administration intensifies its \u201cmaximum pressure\u201d campaign against Cuba through sanctions and legal action targeting top officials.<\/p>\n

Last week, longtime Cuban leader Ra\u00fal Castro was indicted in the United States for his alleged role in the 1996 shootdown of two Brothers to the Rescue planes, which killed four people.<\/p>\n

Florida Republicans are signaling that all options remain available.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou never take any option off the table,\u201d Sen. Rick Scott said when asked about possible U.S. military action against Cuba.<\/p>\n

Scott added that President Donald Trump \u201cwants peace,\u201d but said Castro should stand trial in the United States.<\/p>\n

Congressman Carlos Gim\u00e9nez also described the administration\u2019s strategy as \u201cmaximum pressure,\u201d noting the president technically has the option to seek Castro\u2019s extradition from Cuba.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, speaking before the United Nations Security Council in New York, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodr\u00edguez Parrilla warned against any U.S. military action.<\/p>\n

\u201cA military aggression would provoke a bloodbath,\u201d Rodr\u00edguez said. \u201cThousands of Cubans would die defending their country.\u201d<\/p>\n

Back in Havana, some residents said they hope tensions do not escalate into violence.<\/p>\n

\u201cBombs don\u2019t have names,\u201d Henry Rivera, a Havana resident, told NBC6. \u201cWhat both sides need is negotiation.\u201d<\/p>\n

The uncertainty comes as Cuba faces deep economic troubles and severe fuel shortages, which Cuban officials partly blame on the U.S. embargo.<\/p>\n

In another potential blow to the Cuban government, several reports indicate Spain\u2019s Supreme Court has ordered the release of details related to Cuba\u2019s debt to Spain.<\/p>\n
