A woman was taken to the hospital after police said she drove into an apartment building, smashing through the front door, in Sunrise on Friday.<\/p>\n

It happened along Sunrise Lakes Boulevard just before 8:30 a.m.<\/p>\n

Sunrise police said a Hyundai Sonata drove over a parking stump, through the bushes and into the front door of apartment 109.<\/p>\n

Paramedics took the driver to the hospital as a precaution. <\/p>\n

Two people inside, a home health nurse and the 99-year old woman who lives there, were not seriously hurt.<\/p>\n

Neighbors said they felt the building shake at the moment of impact.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just heard a big boom! And I said, oh my God, what is that? I couldn\u2019t imagine it was the apartment here,” one neighbor, Sonya, said. \u201cI hope the building is safe because that boom I heard, I thought the whole place collapsed.”<\/p>\n

Video captured the gaping hole and damage left behind, before crews installed plywood to cover it. A bright orange sticker on the window now alerts people that it’s not safe to go inside.<\/p>\n

Neighbors said the woman who drove into the apartment is also a home health nurse who was arriving to switch out with the nurse inside. <\/p>\n

It was not immediately clear when people will be able to get back into the building. <\/p>\n
