This year, it will start on 12:01 a.m.\u00a0on July 10,\u00a02026\u00a0and end at 5 p.m. on July 19, 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hunters can remove the snakes from eight locations to qualify for the competition. They are: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Big Cypress Wildlife Management Area<\/li>\n<li>Everglades and Francis S. Taylor Wildlife Management Area<\/li>\n<li>Everglades National Park<\/li>\n<li>Frog Pond North Public Small Game Hunting Area<\/li>\n<li>Holey Land Wildlife Management Area<\/li>\n<li>Rocky Glades Public Small Game Hunting Area<\/li>\n<li>Rotenberger Wildlife Management Area<\/li>\n<li>Southern Glades Wildlife and Environmental Area<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How can I register for the Florida Python Challenge?<\/h2>\n<p>You can sign up here, on the challenge&#8217;s official website, but only after you&#8217;ve read and understood all the rules, completed the online training and passed the quiz with a score of at least 85%. <\/p>\n<p>Registration costs $25 per person.<\/p>\n<h2>What are the rules for the Florida Python Challenge?<\/h2>\n<p>There are rules that guide the removal of Burmese pythons. For instance, the use of firearms is prohibited, along with the use of dogs or other animals to aid in the hunt. <\/p>\n<p>Participants will be disqualified if they kill a native snake or damage, destroy or remove eggs of a native species. <\/p>\n<p>Also, only professional hunters can transport live pythons. Novices must humanely kill the python immediately at the site of capture. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/jacksonvillemovingnews.com\/?p=564\">Judge bans most arrests by federal agents in immigration courts in New York<\/a><\/p>\n<p>To see all the rules and grounds for disqualification, go here.<\/p>\n<div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tFlorida officials deployed 120 mechanical rabbits to lure and trap invasive Burmese pythons in the Everglades.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<h2>Why does the state hold a Florida Python Challenge?<\/h2>\n<p>Burmese pythons are one of the state&#8217;s most notorious invasive species, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC) has implemented several efforts to remove the large nonvenomous constrictors from our ecosystem \u2014 primarily by humanely killing them.<\/p>\n<p>To incentivize their removal, Florida hosts annual python challenges.<\/p>\n<p>Burmese pythons are what scientists call &#8220;generalist predators,&#8221; meaning that they feed on a wide variety of species.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, pythons have been known to feast on the federally threatened\u00a0wood stork\u00a0and the federally endangered\u00a0Key Largo wood rats.
