Body camera video shows the moments a deputy responded after a woman was fatally attacked by an alligator while swimming in a Florida river.<\/p>\n

The brief video shows a deputy arriving at the scene at the Econlockhatchee River in the Little Big Econ State Forest in Seminole County on Sunday.<\/p>\n

In the footage, released by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, the deputy runs through a wooded area before reaching the scene along the river, where it appears the victim is under a covering being assisted by a man.<\/p>\n

The Orlando woman, identified as 31-year-old Brittany Clark, had been hiking with her boyfriend and her best friend when they stopped to swim in about three feet of water and she was attacked, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials said.<\/p>\n

A woman, possibly the victim’s friend, was heard telling a dispatcher how bad the wounds are in a 911 call from the incident.<\/p>\n

“Terrible,” she says. “Both her arms, both her arms are off, like basically.”<\/p>\n

Clark later died from her injuries.<\/p>\n

In a statement to NBC News, Clark’s boyfriend, Chance Allison, said she “loved going out on the water every chance she could.”<\/p>\n

He remembered her as “an amazing and caring person and didn’t deserve to go out in such a way. She was the strongest and most outgoing person I’ve ever met in my 30 years of life.”<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tA woman was killed after she was attacked by an alligator while swimming in a Florida river, authorities said.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

Two large gators, a 13-footer and a 12-footer, were later captured in the area, and DNA testing was being conducted to determine if either of them attacked the woman, officials said.<\/p>\n

FWC officials said serious injuries caused by alligators are rare in Florida but added that it’s near the end of mating season when gators become very territorial.<\/p>\n

There are alligators in all of Florida’s 67 counties and every body of fresh water could contain a gator, officials said.<\/p>\n

“Never in a million years would we have seen this nightmare come about,” Allison said.<\/p>\n
