A Florida father was charged after his 8-year-old son was found riding a personal watercraft alone, authorities said.<\/p>\n

The incident happened earlier this month near Lido Key, Sarasota Police said.<\/p>\n

Body camera footage showed the moment Marine Patrol found the boy out on the water on his own.<\/p>\n

“Where’s your parents?” an officer says in the video. “Can you take me to them?”<\/p>\n

The officer met with the father, who’s seen trying to explain the situation.<\/p>\n

“I’m sorry, I know that, I really don’t think that he’s legal to drive it, right?” he says. “We have been using Jet Skis on the lake for the last few years, he’s very proficient.”<\/p>\n

But the father was charged with a misdemeanor because in Florida, a person must be at least 14 to operate a personal watercraft.<\/p>\n
