What started as a breakup escalated to stalking charges as police say a man attacked his ex-girlfriend’s new partner in Hialeah. <\/p>\n

Steven Michael Gaviria has been arrested on one count of aggravated stalking and one count of burglary with assault after allegedly stalking his ex and her new boyfriend for two months.<\/p>\n

According to an arrest report, Gaviria had been stalking the couple since they started dating. He allegedly stuck a tracking device under his ex-girlfriend’s car, which is now being used as evidence.<\/p>\n

The incident happened on June 15 as the couple noticed a white Genesis sedan parked nearby as they arrived home. Once spotted, Gaviria drove off, but the couple tried to follow the car to get a license plate number.<\/p>\n

As the couple returned home, they tried to park before noticing the same white car pull up and then block them in. According to the report, Gaviria and the current boyfriend were arguing before Gaviria got out of his car and began attacking him, punching and scratching.<\/p>\n

Gaviria and his ex reportedly dated for two years before they broke up, police said.<\/p>\n

The report said the suspect has shown up at the woman’s residence at least six times and three times near the current boyfriend’s residence. He had also allegedly shown up twice at the current boyfriend’s workplace, begging him to break up with his ex-girlfriend.<\/p>\n

The ex-girlfriend took notice of a possible tracker placed under her car when she saw that the suspect was showing up approximately 15 minutes after she would arrive at the gym, the police said. She also received notifications every time she entered her car that said a device was connecting to her phone. The current boyfriend also noticed a GPS tracking device on his car, the report said.<\/p>\n

Gaviria was asked to come back to the Hialeah police station on Thursday, where he confessed and was formally charged, the report said.<\/p>\n
