Surveillance video in Northwest Miami-Dade captured the moments when a child on a scooter crashed into a Miami-Dade County Public Schools bus.<\/p>\n

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened at around 7:30 a.m. on the corner of Northwest 122nd Street and 27th Avenue.<\/p>\n

In the surveillance video, the boy was seen riding his scooter down the sidewalk.<\/p>\n

Both he and the school bus driver stopped, and then the video shows the boy and the bus driver continuing to move when the crash happens as the bus makes a right turn.<\/p>\n

The boy was seen limping as he started to walk, and then he fell to the ground.<\/p>\n

NBC6 spoke to a witness who was across the street when he saw the boy on the ground and his scooter in the middle of the road. .<\/p>\n

“I seen the bus and the commotion, all the vehicles and all the traffic,” Nelson Ortiz said. “I seen the boy laying down by the grass.”<\/p>\n

Ortiz then went to help the boy.<\/p>\n

“I asked him if he needed some help, if he needed to call somebody,” Ortiz said. “I tried to help. I got the parents’ number.”<\/p>\n

Emergency crews then arrived at the scene and took the boy to the hospital.<\/p>\n

Officials said the boy is expected to be OK.<\/p>\n

Ortiz got emotional thinking about what he saw.<\/p>\n

“It could\u2019ve been my daughter,” he said. “That\u2019s it.”<\/p>\n

He told NBC6 that crashes happened at that intersection all the time.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s always an accident,” Ortiz said.<\/p>\n

M-DCPS sent NBC6 the following statement:<\/p>\n

“One of our buses was involved in an accident that resulted in an individual being struck. No students were on board the bus at the time of the incident. The individual was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.”<\/p>\n

Deputies said the driver of the school bus will not face any charges because the boy hit the bus.<\/p>\n
